Following a fascinating and informative presentation from Derek Gibbs, a trustee of the charity, Priory Rotary have made a £250 donation to the King’s Lynn Men’s Shed. Derek explained that the group, which started in 2017, now has 40 members and meets twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays to create items often involving intricate woodwork and metalwork. They are largely dependent on grants and donations to purchase equipment such as band saws, lathes, electrical equipment etc. Derek said “as well as being an outlet for their creative skills, this is a place where men, who are predominantly retired and often single, find meaning and purpose. The opportunity to connect and converse and basically enjoy each other’s company is incredibly valuable to them”.

The group is part of the international Men’s Shed Association, and is always open to welcome newcomers.
