Priory Rotary’s Satellite Club recently held a very successful Race Night at Reffley Community Centre. This was in aid of West Norfolk Carers, the 8:56 Foundation and the One to One Project. West Norfolk Carers provide much needed support to young people who find themselves having to care for someone in their own home who is ill, has a physical or learning difficulty, or other issues. The 8:56 Foundation is a recently formed local charity which aims to raise awareness and reduce the stigma associated with mental health in men by encouraging them to talk and reduce the risk of loneliness and social isolation. One to One provides professional support to adults who are experiencing emotional and/or social distress and mental health difficulties.
A total of £1500 was raised on the night, with each of the charities receiving £500.

Sara Nurse (Young Carers and Families Service Lead for West Norfolk Carers) said "Thank you so much for your support. We rely on grants and donations to be able to run our young carers support groups. We have some amazing volunteers who help us and without either of these things we would not be able to provide this much needed service. These funds will go towards providing activities and trips out for these amazing young carers".
Richard Watson (8.56 Foundation) said “We had the pleasure of welcoming Mark, Phil and Beth from Priory Rotary King's Lynn Satellite Group to a recent Committee meeting and it was great to talk to them about the work and services that the 8:56 have and what we have coming up - but also to thank them for their fundraising at a recent Race Night where we were one of 3 beneficiaries receiving a fantastic £500. This will help support our Wellbeing Pathway of Socials, Peer Groups and Talking Therapy.”
Colin Aris (Assistant Project Manager - One to One Project) said “The £500 that you kindly raised and donated will go towards creating another Counselling room which will be designated as a Trauma Informed Counselling room. Our Trauma trained Counsellors will work in this specially designed space and within this room we will have resources to help those living with the effects of Trauma to be able to open up, fully express themselves and move towards a better quality of life.”
