Priory Rotary Satellite Supports Baby Basics West Norfolk with £500 Donation

Last December, King’s Lynn’s Priory Rotary Satellite Club ran another successful stall at North Wootton Village Hall’s annual Christmas Fair and the money raised, boosted by a top up from club funds since, allowed them to donate £500 to the local West Norfolk branch of Baby Basics. The presentation, at Dersingham church, where the charity is based, was made by Satellite Club members Mark Collins and Sue Longley (third from right) pictured here with volunteers from the group.

Mark from the club noted: “This is the second time we’ve been able to support this worthwhile charity and it was good to catch up again with Maggie and her team who were busy making up packs for new mums when we arrived.”

Centre leader, Maggie Anderson said: “We are enormously grateful for this generous donation and the continued interest and support in our volunteer work. Rotary Satellite Supporting Baby Basics is much appreciated.”

“Baby Basics West Norfolk continues to be busy answering requests from frontline care professionals from many varying agencies. The rising cost of just about every essential needed to ensure a safe clean and appropriate place for a newborn baby to sleep is for some, simply unaffordable. We support professionals in answering their referrals for anyone assessed as being unable to provide what they need including families in poverty, families seeking asylum, those facing domestic violence, teenage mums, those facing homelessness or those who are in temporary accommodation. We have already responded to more than 120 referrals this year with more already on the system. Having a safe space for a baby to sleep, such as a Moses basket, is the most basic provision that every parent wants for their child and although the increase in demand shows the sad situation faced by families locally, we are privileged to be able to be there to support them.”
