King's Lynn Rotarians Complete Epic 131-Mile Tour de Tapping for Hospice

Three King's Lynn Rotarians were among a team of dedicated cyclists who successfully completed the annual Tour de Tapping challenge in support of Tapping House Hospice, raising almost £2,000 so far for the local charity.

Phil Davies and Jonathan Holmes from King's Lynn Priory Rotary joined Mike Douglass from King's Lynn Rotary, along with eight cycling friends, to visit every Tapping House charity shop in a single day. Setting off from the St Nicholas Centre shop in King's Lynn at 7.45am on 16th June, the team cycled a remarkable 131 miles, visiting shops in Snettisham, Hunstanton, Burnham Market, Wells-next-the-Sea, Fakenham, Swaffham, Downham Market and Wisbech before returning to King's Lynn.

After a brief lunch stop at Tapping House Hospice in Hillington, the cyclists continued their journey, arriving back at the St Nicholas Centre at 6.45pm having maintained an impressive average speed of 15.2mph throughout the day.

Three additional cyclists joined sections of the route and several members of Priory Rotary will be taking on parts of the challenge later in July. Along the way, the riders received fantastic support from members of Hunstanton & District Rotary and the Tapping House team, who welcomed them at each charity shop they visited.

The fundraising total on JustGiving has already reached nearly £2,000 including Gift Aid, with further donations still being received.

The ride also marks the launch of the wider virtual Tour de Tapping challenge, encouraging cyclists of all abilities to ride 20, 50 or 100 miles in aid of Tapping House Hospice between now and the end of August.

Everyone involved would like to thank those who donated, supported and encouraged the riders throughout the day. The funds raised will help Tapping House continue providing vital care and support to patients and families across West Norfolk.
